Ellen Marie Deleo, FSO-PV (Recreational Boating Safety Partner Visitor)
As the FSO-PV I am responsible for administration, planning and implementation of the Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Partner Visitation Program. We currently support about 150 partners that operate boating-related businesses as well as businesses and organizations that are frequented by our boating community.
Our boating community includes those who enjoy powerboating, sailing, and paddle sports. The information that we share with businesses includes boating safety, marine safety, and environmental protection literature, notices of our upcoming events, and safety resources such as quick reference stickers for calling for help, aids to navigation, and paddlecraft reflector kits.
Our goal is to visit each partner at least six times a year for a total of about 900 visits. This means 75 visits per month. We are always looking for new program members to help get our message out to our partners and their customers. If you would like to learn more about the RBSPV program, please email me at [email protected] or (239) 207-8497.
I look forward to assisting you in certifying as a RBSPV and joining our program.

The Program Visitors number one job is to promote Recreational Boater Safety. The basic function of a Program Visitor is to interact with the business community, residential boating communities and other interested parties. During visits the PV makes sure the partner has a sufficient supply of the most current boater safety information. Also, we make available to the partner a schedule of educational events offered by the Flotilla. PVs form relationships with the partners. Relationships result in the partners and or customers attending educational classes. Also, the FSO-PV works closely with the FSO-VE in promoting vessel exams. Additionally, we work with the FSO-PA in promoting special events for the partner such as speakers. Recently two (2) PVs made a cold call (visit) on a residential boating community. This community has approximately 35 boat slips, there is a waiting list for slips. They were very excited to have us stop by. We have been invited to speak to the community and conduct vessel exams. PVs stop by public boat launches to pass out information and of course, make sure they have the vessel exam brochure as well as the educational schedule. We are always recruiting. When there is an Auxiliary speaker at a partner event, the PV is also there. Great time to make available boater safety information as well as information on how to join the Auxiliary.
Program Visitors are the face of the Auxiliary. We wear Tropical Blues when on visits which commands attention and gives the PV instant credibility. If you like visiting with people, then this may be a fit for you. As FSO-PV I will help you through the certification process. Once you are certified, I will work with you in the field. If you would like to learn more about the Program reach out to me. We can visit over coffee.
