This new course, focusing on navigation within Everglades National Park, has been developed due to numerous requests. The class provides the essential knowledge and skills needed to journey into one of America’s most unique, natural, and awe-inspiring ecosystems. Designed for experienced boaters anglers and nature enthusiasts alike, this course will equip you with the information needed to safely explore, navigate and fish the labyrinth of waterways that make up the northern portion of the Park from Indian Key Pass to the Chatham River. 20 individual routes have been selected and will be reviewed. Waypoints for all routes will be provided, allowing them to be created and installed on your GPS unit. Gain invaluable knowledge and detailed information about tides, historical landmarks, equipment, Park regulations and prime fishing spots along with an understanding of the park's fragile beauty and incredible biodiversity. Whether your passion lies in reeling in a trophy fish or simply immersing yourself in the tranquility and breathtaking scenery of this natural wonder, this course will provide the critical insights needed to enjoy the exciting adventures that await you in Everglades National Park.
Due to this area's shallow water, remote location, and complex topography, this course is intended for experienced boaters operating vessels 25 feet or less in length. Navigating these waters requires thorough preparation. Even seasoned mariners should approach this area with caution, as local conditions can change quickly due to storms and the resulting changes made to bottom topography.
Top Spot Chart #N204 is recommended for use during the class. This will allow you to mark up the chart with the routes discussed. Please bring this chart and a Sharpee or markers with you to the class.
