William E. Bowen III, Immediate Past District Commodore, First District Southern Region After a 25 year career in the U. S. Coast Guard, Commodore Bowen retired on 1 August 1994 as a Senior Chief Quartermaster, and Senior Special Agent with CGIS. One month later he was appointed as a criminal defense investigator for the State of CT. After several attempts to join the Auxiliary Commodore Bowen finally entered our ranks in March, 2005. After 20 years with the state, Commodore Bowen retired once again and devoted his time to the Auxiliary as a member of Flotilla 25-03, Mystic, CT. He was immediately appointed as the FSO-MT and served in that position until 2008 when he was elected as Flotilla Commander. After his term as FC, Commodore Bowen was appointed as Division Training officer for Division 25. He served in that capacity until 2013 when he was elected as Vice Division Commander. In 2015 he took the reins of Division 25 as the Division Commander. In 2016 he was elected as District Captain, Sector Long Island Sound. The following September, Commodore Bowen was elected District Commodore, D1SR. Commodore Bowen currently resides with his wife Peggy in Griswold, CT. They have two sons, Ed who lives in Pennsylvania and Chris who lives in Mystic, CT. Both are members of the Auxiliary. |

Normand Choquette From 2010 to the present, Norm has served as the DSO-FN for the First District Northern Region Prior to that, Norm was SO-FN for Division 7. In addition, Norm currently serves as the State Liaison Officer for Rhode Island, a position he has held since 2018. Norm has been the Flotilla Commander for Flotilla 07-08, Providence, R.I. for 2017 and 2018 and, previously, Vice Flotilla Commander during 2015 and 2016. Norm’s Auxiliary is qualified as a Boat Crew Member, an Aids to Navigation Verifier, a Certified CPR and First Aid provider, an Instructor, Recreational Boating Safety Visitor and Vessel Examiner. |

William Dahl Bill joined US Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2008 and is a member of Flotilla 014-13-09. He currently serves as Vice Division Commander Division 014-13 Jones Beach and as First District Southern – DSO-Operation SLIS His Auxiliary credentials include BQ, AUXCOM, Instructor, and he is a Boat Crew Member. He is also qualified as a TCO, USCG Communications Watchstander, APC, a PE Instructor a VE, MDV, PV and Coxswain. Bill is also a TCTAUX Instructor and Facilitator. Bill served as Vice Flotilla Commander and then Flotilla Commander for Flotilla 014-13-09 and has held positions as FSO-OP, FSO-CM, FSO-MT, and FSO-RS&S. Bill has also held the following Division level staff positions: SO-OP, SO-CM, SO-PE, SO-MT, and RS&S. Bill became an AUXCA-1 Auxiliary Culinary Assistant -1 in 2018 and his AUXOP in 2019. Bill is USCG qualified as Advanced Boat Forces and RS&S Safety Officer, SAR SC&E and is USCG Station Jones Beach Officer of Day Qualified. |

Wesley L. Doody Wes Doody has been an active member of the USCGAUX since 1976. In his ‘other life’ he currently is a Professor of Biology at Nassau Community College, SUNY. His “Auxiliary’ life spans many positions. Currently, he is serves as ADSO - Member Training for Sector NY South. Additionally he also serves the S0-MT officer for Division 11 and for his Flotilla, 11-3. He is a past Division Commander and has previously held several District Staff Officer positions including serving as the Directorate Chief for Leadership Development. He has served several National positions from Branch Assistant of the Training Department up to deputy Director of the Training Department (DC-Td). During his tenure in the Training Department he coordinated the development of the Auxiliary Leadership and Management program (AUXLAM) and created the original Auxiliary Mid-Level Officers Course (AMLOC). He is an AMLOC instructor and conducted courses in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii as well as several offering within the First Southern District. On the District Level he developed the original LDC program which has morphed into the current LDA program. |

Lynn Enny A retired teacher. Lynn Enny joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1987. Her Auxiliary competencies include Coxswain, Instructor, Qualified Examiner, Watchstander, AuxCA, Program Visitor, Vessel Examiner and Auxiliary TCT Facilitator. Currently Lynn holds the appointed officer positions of: FSO-PE, FSO-IS, SO-MT, SO-IS and DSO-IS. Lynn’s past Auxiliary positions include the elected positions of FC and DCDR. Although Lynn has held many positions and is a highly accomplished member of the First District Coast Guard Auxiliary, her best job to date, she says, is being a grandparent! |

Glen A. Gayton, District Captain Sector Boston Glen joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary 10 years ago and is currently serving as DCAPT for Sector Boston. Previously Glen served as Division Commander and Division Vice Commander for Division 3 and as Flotilla Commander and Vice Flotilla Commander for Flotilla 3-7 and DSO-VE. Glen is the COASTIE Director, Operator and Technician. He also holds the following qualifications: VE, IT, AUXCT, AUXCA1, Boat Crew and BQC II. Glen also served in the US Army, Massachusetts National Guard. Not surprisingly, Glen’s hobbies include boating and kayaking. |

Stephen Gillooly Steve has been a member of Flotilla 22 at USCG Station Sandy hook for over 20 years, and is a qualified Watchstander and Boat Crew Coxswain. He has had several elected and appointed positions, including Vice Division Commander, Flotilla Commander, Vice Flotilla Commander, FSO-IS, FSO-CS, FSO-PE, SO-IS, and SO-CS. Charles B. Grossimon, Immediate Past District Commodore-First District Northern Region Commodore Charles Grossimon was raised in Lexington, MA. Charlie attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is the Auxiliary Affairs Assistant for the First Coast Guard District-Northern Region. He is also Past Captain Commanding the Lexington Minute Men, having been a member for 40 years. His wife Donna is also a member of the Auxiliary. Charles joined the Auxiliary in November 2001. As a new member he trained on USCGC RELIANCE, WMEC-615, eventually qualifying in Damage Control Personnel Qualification Standard and as Gangway Petty Officer of the Watch and Lookout/Helmsmen. In January 2005, he was awarded the Coast Guard Cutterman’s Pin. In 2004-2005 he served as Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 38. He was then appointed District Staff Officer – Secretary-Records in June 2006 and served in that role until April 2008. Elected Vice Division Commander Division 3, he served for 2008-2009. Charles was then elected Division Commander of Division 3 for the years 2010-2011. Following that service he was appointed District Directorate Chief of Prevention and served in that capacity for 2012 and 2013. Charles’ service continued with his election as District-Captain-Central for the years 2014 and 2015. Charles served as District Chief of Staff from 2016 to 2018. In January of 2019, Commodore Grossimon assumed the role of District Commodore for the First District, Northern Region. Commodore Grossimon’s Awards include The Auxiliary Meritorious Service Medal, The Auxiliary Commendation Medal, The Auxiliary Achievement Medal, 10 Sustained Service Awards and 2 Operation Service Awards. He is a qualified Vessel Examiner, Instructor and Boat Crew member. |

Peter Jensen After a career in the United States Foreign Service, Commodore Peter Jensen joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2010. His many past National Staff assignments include Director for Performance Measurement and ANACO for ForceCom. He is currently ANACO for Performance and Student Programs. Commodore Jensen is also an AuxAir pilot. |

Sherry Kisver This past June, Shery celebrated her 35th anniversary in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary of which all has been in the First Southern District. Currently, Sherry serves as: Branch Chief-Uniform Division (Atlantic East), Civil Right Counselor D1SR, District Directorate Chief – Logistics, Immediate Past Flotilla Commander, SO MT, Academy Partner and DIRAUX staff. After all of these years I know the meaning of support and how important it is to a Flotilla, Division, District, and National. Sherry brings many years working experience from the NYC Dept of Education as well as private schools where she still teaches. Being flexible, dedicated, resourceful, and goal driven, she is a professional with a solid commitment to the growth and development of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary family. She has a strong passion toward the auxiliary members to empower them and promote their participation in program areas. Communication is and will remain a high priority with Sherry. COMO Alex Malewski, National Commodore of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Commodore Alex Malewski joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2000 and was elected to the position of National Commodore, starting in November 2020. Commodore Malewski previously served as Vice National Commodore and Deputy National Commodore Atlantic East and Operations. He is qualified as a Coxswain, Aircraft Commander, Public Education Instructor, PATON Aids Verifier, AUXOP, Vessel Examiner, and Personal Water Craft Operator. He was the Coxswain of the first “All Aviator” team to win the District 1 SR Surface SAR competition. He has served as a Staff Officer in Member Training, Communications, and Finance and held various elected positions. Commodore Malewski has been recognized with the Coast Guard Auxiliary Meritorious Service Medal (3 times), Coast Guard Auxiliary Award of Operational Merit, Coast Guard Auxiliary Operational Excellence “E” Ribbon, Auxiliary Commendation Award, CG Meritorious Team Commendation (7 times), CG Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 times), CG Unit Commendation (2 times), and a Presidential Unit Citation. He attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass where he received a degree in Chemistry and Saint John’s University School of Law where he received a Juris Doctor. Commodore Malewski worked as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City and is now a partner in a small General Practice law firm in Brooklyn, New York. Commodore Malewski lives in Seaford, New York with his wife Renee and has two daughters, Krystyna and Katherine. |

David G. McClure Ed.D., District Chief of Staff, First District Northern Region Dave is a professional educator and has a Massachusetts Master Teacher/Administrator Certification Presently, in addition to his DCOS duties, Dave serves as Auxiliary Branch Chief PA Training Coordinator and has done so since 2000. He is also a Leadership and Management Instructor, AUX-12 PA Brach Chief, and Instructor, and an AMLOC Instructor. He has taught many PE courses offered by the Auxiliary and has completed all Active Duty Leadership Training courses offered by Leadership Development Center at USCGA. Dave has taught more than 1,000 Auxiliary members in the last 10 years. Dave is also engaged in other Auxiliary activities and is a Qualified Watch Stander Station Cape Cod Canal, a Qualified PA1, CG Admissions Partner, a Fingerprint Tech, Instructor, Food Service Trainer, Auxiliary University Program Branch Assistant, Vessel Examiner, Crew, Program Visitor, and Qualified Uninspected Vessel Examiner. Dave served in the US Navy from 1965-1971 and is Vietnam Era Veteran. He has been in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 30 years which includes 6 Years of service at Station Cape Cod Canal and Station Menemsha as a watch stander. Dave has also served as a Division Commander, a Flotilla Commander, a DSO-PA, an FSO-MT, and an FSO-PA. Dave’s leadership credentials include CG Auxiliary National Branch Chief PA School Coordinator which means all CG Auxiliary and Active Duty attending AUX 12 C-School Class have their assignments approved by him. He as been Qualified LAMS Instructor, training nationwide for last 2 years; a LAMS Facilitator leading more than 250 members improving their Leadership Skills during the last 10 years and National PA Branch Chief. |

Byron A. Moe, District Commodore, First District Northern Region COMO Byron Moe is the current District Commodore for the First Northern District. Byron joined the Auxiliary in 1983 while serving on active duty as a USCG Aviator. Through the years Byron has held numerous positions from Flotilla, Division, District, and National. In recent years Byron was deployed to assist in Air Operations at Hurricane Katrina, the Haitian Earthquake, and to Puerto Rico for Hurricane Maria. He is also the executive Assistant for the Chief Director to CG-113, USCG Safety & Environmental Health. Byron is an AUXOP member and has achieved qualifications as Marine Safety and Environmental Specialist, Aircraft Commander, Instructor, CRM Trainer, Vessel Examiner, Vessel Operator, and Watchstander. Growing up in Minnesota, Byron attended the University of Minnesota on an athletic scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering, graduating Suma Cum Laude. Later, Byron attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, earning a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, cum laude. Byron has further certification from the Department of Transportation in Hazardous Materials Transportation, Aviation Safety Action Program, and Safety Management Systems. Byron on has been married for 30 years, has 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Byron is a Mater Mason, 32nd degree Mason, and a Knight Templar Mason, as well as a fellow at the International Society of Air Safety Investigators. His personal awards include: Air Medal, Auxiliary Commendation Award, Auxiliary Achievement Award (2), Commandants Letter of Commendation, Auxiliary Sustained Service Award (11), Coast Guard Achievement Medal (3), Coast Guard Artic Service. David Mooney Auxiliarist David Mooney has been in the Coast Guard Auxiliary for just over 8 years. During that time he has achieved multiple qualifications such as Instructor, Program Visitor, Vessel Examiner, Academy Admissions Partner and the Prestigious AUXOP designation. Out of the 8 years in he has held an elected position for 7 years serving full terms as Vice Flotilla Commander, Flotilla Commander, Vice Division Commander, and now going into his second term as Division Commander for the New York City Division. Over the years he has also taken on staff officer roles in both flotilla and Division level but most notably a National role as Social Media Director for the CGAUXA, DSO-PA, ADSO-CS and currently District Directorate Chief for Special Events, District Awards Coordinator, and D-train Coordinator. |

Peter Poulin Peter joined the USCG Auxiliary in 2014 and has served as FSO-PA, FSO-HR, VFC, and FC and is currently the Immediate Past Flotilla Commander and FSO-HR for the Casco Bay Flotilla. As a qualified instructor, he has developed a "Hands On" virtual Weekend Navigator class that has attracted students from all over the country and also serves as a Vessel Examiner and is currently chairman of the Committee to launch the Auxiliary University program in the Casco Bay Flotilla. |

Mark A. Stone, District Commodore, First Coast Guard District South Region Mark A. Stone is the District Commodore for the First Coast Guard District South Auxiliary. Joining the Auxiliary in June 2011, he was previously the District 1 South, Chief of Staff, Division Commander and Vice Division Commander of Division 1, Central Long Island and Flotilla Commander and Vice Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 1-6, Air Station Islip MacArthur. He has held a variety of appointed staff positions as well. Commodore Stone concurrently served on the national staff of the “Emergency Management and Disaster Response Directorate”, as Branch Chief for Contingency Planning. Commodore Stone was part of the first deployed Incident Management Auxiliary Coordination Cell (IMACC). He was deployed to Hurricane Harvey in 2017 as Critical Resources Unit Leader and Deputy Team Leader. Commodore Stone is also involved in the Incident Management Team (IMT) for Sector Long Island Sound. Commodore Stone has attained the prestigious AUXOP designation and is a qualified Air Crew, Instructor, Telecommunications Operator, Fingerprint Technician, and Vessel Examiner. |

Louis Volpato Lou Volpato has been a member since 2004. He is currently an AuxAir Co-pilot, AuxOp, VE, a fingerprint tech and recently trained for HARPAT. He earned Operational Excellence Award, won first place in the District SAR Competition and third place in the East Coast SAR Competition, both in 2011. He has served in appointed positions as FSO-MA, FSO-MT, FSO-PB, SO-MA, SO-OP, SO-PB, ADSO-AVT, ADSO-PB, BC-DAE. Lou has also served in elected positions as VFC, FC, VCDR, DCDR and DCAP (Sect LIS – south). Since 2015 Lou has also been a member of the Auxiliary Boat Inspection Team at Station Fire Island where he also supports active-duty personnel before and during the station’s RFO inspections. He has participated in special activities such as: NY Harbor New Year’s Eve patrol, USS Intrepid Kids Week, Veteran’s Day Parade, Fleet Week, NYC Boat Show and various air shows and local boating events. Lou has an active AuxAir facility and, though in REYR as boat crew, has had his 30’ Pearson sailboat as an auxiliary facility. |

Michael A. West Mike West is an Attorney. Mike joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2005 and hails from Division 15, located in the upper most reaches of the States of New York and Vermont. His Auxiliary competencies include among others Boat Crew, Instructor, PV, and VE. He previously served as DSO-FN and DCAPT for Sector New York North and is now serving in his first year as Chief of Staff for D1SR. |
