WHY JOIN THE AUXILIARY?
Since 1939 the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary has served as a force multiplier for the Coast Guard, safeguarding our nation’s maritime interests across the country and around the globe. Today, the over 20,000 men and women of the Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteer their time to carry out an array of responsibilities touching almost every facet of the U.S. maritime environment. Our most visible role is promoting recreational boating safety but the Auxiliary does much more than provide boater education classes and Vessel Safety Checks, including performing roles related to:
- Surface Operations
- Aviation
- Telecommunications
- Public Affairs
- Marine Safety and Environmental Protection
- Interpreter services
- Clergy support services
- Culinary Specialist services
- Coast Guard Recruiting
