Finance Officer
Vince Matsui, FSO-FN
As your FSO-Finance, I balance the flotilla’s checking account every month, taking into account Inflows, consisting of member dues and boating safety class fees; and Outflows: dues payable upstream to Division, District and National, and flotilla approved expenses for items such as for the annual holiday party. There are 2 key responsibilities to the job:
(1) assembling the flotilla’s annual budget at the beginning of the new year, and submitting it for member approval, and
(2) collecting and recording annual member dues payments each fall. If you enjoy balancing your check book to the penny, and writing checks for worthy causes, you may find being the FSO-FN a rewarding position that is an important part of Member Services, one of the four pillars of the Auxiliary.
I am also an active pilot for AuxAir and am available to mentor those members interested in pursuing this very demanding and highly rewarding activity in support of the active duty Coast Guard. Similarly, your FC, Bill Jefferson, captains his vessel for Surface operations and is similarly available to mentor members who are prepared to put in the hours and hard work required for qualification in Surface operations.
