Flotilla Commander Michael DiPierro in a recent  NBC-2 Fort Myers Broadcast promoting Recreational Boating Safety and encouraging plain Common Sense when on the water

A Message from our Flotilla Commander:

We are now just closing the books on the events of National Safe Boating Week 2024, 18-24 May. Flotilla 96 performed numerous missions with the goal of stepping up the messaging of safe boating in southwest Florida for all boaters, visitors and residents alike. Courtesy Vessel Exams, Partner Visits, educational opportunities, special appearances at Bass Pro Shops and Ace Hardware as well as the Collier County Public Library in Naples were very successful occasions to interact with the public, boaters and non-boaters alike, to spread the word about the need to boat safely.

We are hopeful that at some point during the week, our dedicated volunteers have touched a few people and planted a seed which will grow to produce a common sense approach to boating. Let's all work together to keep our children safe while on the water, to be certain our family wears life jackets, and to all remember to SLOW DOWN where unfamiliar waters are present.

Let's work to make 2024 a truly safe year and pray for no further serious accidents anywhere along the entire Gulf Coast.

In response to the many questions and concerns about the tragic boat accident on Friday, March 15th that claimed two lives in Little Hickory Bay our Flotilla Commander Michael DiPierro made this video statement below.

As our main mission is to promote recreational boating safety we highly suggest that new local boaters consider taking our Local Waters Knowledge class that will be held at our Wiggins Pass Facility on the evening of  Monday, March 25th.

Please see our Local Boating Courses section for the complete schedule of upcoming classes.
