Chief of Staff Laurer Is Boat Crew Qualified and an Instructor

Carmella Laurer is the district chief of staff for the Ninth District, Eastern Region.

She previously was a district captain, flotilla commander and division commander. One area of focus has been human resources recruiting and retention; in fact, she has been serv-ing both the flotilla and Division 1 as human resource officer for more than 10 years.

Laurer has facilitated many district conference sessions for new members and new leaders. She is also active in operations, holding a boat crew qualification, and has been a member since October 2006.

Before her retirement in 2015, Laurer worked for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield in the Finance Department. The majority of her 37-year career was spent in supervisory and management positions. She and her husband, COMO Robert Laurer, spend their summers on Wellesley Island in New York’s Thousand Islands region where they support Station Alexandria Bay.
