Biography – District 1 Southern Region, Michael S. Klacik, District Chief of Staff

Michael S. Klacik is the Chief of Staff for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, District 1 Southern Region. He has been a member of the Auxiliary for 15 years, and has held both elected and appointed offices at all four levels of the Auxiliary, most recently serving as District Directorate Chief of Prevention and District RBS Coordinator.

Klacik has also served as Division Commander, Vice Division Commander, Flotilla Commander, Vice Flotilla Commander, National Director of Vessel Examinations and RBS Program Visitation, National Deputy Director of Vessel Examinations and RBS Program Visitation, National Division Chief – VE Incentives, Assistant District Staff Officer for Human Resources and Marine Safety, Division Staff Officer for Public Affairs and Marine Safety, and Flotilla Staff Officer for Marine Safety, Public Affairs, Public Education, Member Training, and Vessel Examinations, and as the State Liaison Officer for NJ.

Klacik is a qualified AUXOP, Coxswain, Instructor, Vessel Examiner, Program Visitor, Life Jacket Wear Observer, Aids to Navigation Verifier, Fingerprint Technician, Public Affair Specialist III, Telecommunications Operator, Assistant Harbor Safety Specialist, Assistant Pollution Investigator, Assistant Pollution Response Specialist, Marine Safety Administrative and Management Specialist, and has earned the Marine Safety TRIDENT device.

Klacik is a retired NJ Police Officer who served in both the Patrol Division and then the Traffic Safety Unit where he was a qualified Crash Investigator and Fatal Accident Reconstructionist. Klacik currently resides in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
