✅ Before You Launch:
- Check the Weather ☁️
Avoid storms & high winds—when in doubt, don’t go out. - File a Float Plan 🗺️
Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.

Life jackets, whistle, fire extinguisher, lights, drain plug.
🧍♂️ On the Water:
- Wear your life jacket at all times—especially kids under 13.
- Stay sober – alcohol & water don’t mix.
- Use navigation lights between sunset and sunrise.
- Maintain a sharp lookout – watch for swimmers, paddlers, and other boats.
🚨 Emergencies:
- Call VHF Channel 16 for U.S. Coast Guard assistance.
- Use a whistle or mirror to signal for help.
- Stay with the boat if you capsize—it’s easier to find.
