Boaters Local Knowledge Backwaters - Updated for 2025

This course begins where Boaters Local Knowledge (BLK) ends and provides those who want to explore the backwaters of the 10,000 Islands with the information they will need to safely navigate this unique area. Geography, tides and weather impact navigation in our waters. Aerial photos and videos are used to aid boaters in knowing where to go…and where not to go. Actual routes into the 10,000 Islands are reviewed in the class. All attendees are provided with the waypoints they need to replicate the routes in a comprehensive handout. Gain a solid foundation by understanding tides, wind, navigation and the proper equipment needed for safe trips into the backwater. Gain valuable information about the use of GPS and VHF radios, along with fundamental navigation techniques. Hands-On Practice by using Top Spot Chart #N204 to mark up with key navigation points.
