Return to Flotilla 4-9's Home Page.
081CR-04-09 (Flotilla 04-09) formed July 01, 1965 as a support asset for the New Orleans Mississippi River front, hence our original Unit Motto "On the banks of the Mighty Mississippi". To this day Flotilla 04-09 continues to be an asset to the Greater New Orleans Region as a robust volunteer unit. With over 30 members, Flotilla 04-09 Members come from all types of different backgrounds and levels of experience but each brings their own story and skill set to help make our Flotilla great; including former and current military, first responders, and civilians of various backgrounds with most having a connection to the maritime or flight communities. It is because of this diverse background, shared knowledge, traditions and interest in being a part of something bigger that we continue to expand our skills and grow as a Unit. This has led to our new motto of Learn More; Do More; Be More!
Our area of operation is Lake Pontchartrain with our home port at West End Marina.
We provide support to Active Duty and Reserve USCG Assets through the following:
-Conducting on water and dockside patrols for boating events and festivals
-Promote safe boating through educational materials/visits and Vessel Safety Checks (VSCs)
-Search and rescue operations on the water, shore lines, and in the air
-Communications through radio Nets and support with HAM clubs
