The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the largest volunteer organization in the world. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, as the United States Coast Guard, are part of the United States Department of Homeland Security. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is made up of more than 20,000 dedicated men and women throughout the United States and U.S. Territories. As part of “Team Coast Guard”, which consists of the United States Coast Guard Active Duty, United States Coast Guard Reserve, Civilian Coast Guard personnel, and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is a uniformed civilian volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard which assist the Coast Guard in all of its missions except direct law enforcement and military.
There are diverse opportunities in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our members participate in boating safety, surface patrols, vessel inspections, aviation patrols, Coast Guard operations, serve asforeign language interpreters for the United States Coast Guard, watch standers of active-duty Coast Guard bases maintaining radio communications with active-duty Coast Guard personnel and Auxiliarists for both surface and aviation patrols, to name a few. Many of our Flotilla members are licensed pilots that participate in aviation patrols.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 10-01 as part of the 1st District Southern Region is under the order-issuing authority of the United States Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Members of Flotilla 10-01 volunteer their personal aircraft to serve as Coast Guard facilities during air patrols on behalf of the United States Coast Guard.
When under orders, our pilots are “Coast Guard Pilots.” Our aircrew become Coast Guardpersonnel. Air patrols take us as far south as the Toms River Bridge along the New Jersey Shoreline, as far north as the Canadian border, Lake Champlain, and as far east as Montauk Point. We patrol the southern shoreline of Long Island, all of the Long Island Sound, the Raritan Bay, the New Jersey Shore,
the Hudson River, and Lake Champlain. As part of the United States Department of Homeland Security, we serve our Nation as “eyes in the sky.”
I welcome you to join us at one of our regular Flotilla meetings. Please check this website for date, time, and locations of our meetings. No prior aviation or military experience is required to participate.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 10-01, Air Station Lincoln Park is comprised of patriots who volunteer their time, efforts, and talents in service of the United States Coast Guard and the United States of America. Join us in our mission.
