GREETINGS
It is great that we can finally meet and conduct some business here in Division 8. The governmental crises certainly do mess with us. Just a few highlights from 2018 that I want to share…
76 members----12 disenrolled, retired or passed away, 5 new members in 2018
77 MT events for 401 hours 185 Vessel Safety Checks
320 marine dealer visits 165 PA hours
23 PE classes given 68 PE hours 25 people assisted/8 vessel assists
1 life saved 231 Other 99 missions for 9355 hours Operational hours not recorded here
So far this year, we are off to a slow start but things are picking up dramatically. Most Flotillas have a good many events planned as we will hear shortly. There was a great District Meeting in March where we received some great awards for efforts expended by you. Please be sure to talk it up with your members and let them know they and their work is appreciated. Top Division in NS, Top flotilla in NS, Top division for Operational Patrols.
I am thankful for all that you do. We recently passed a holiday season where there were many movies, great messages and great quotes.
Captain Ferguson---District meeting---spoke of trains and the CG Auxiliary—Get on or get run over by it
Twist—Polar Express---It doesn’t matter where the train is going, what matters is the decision to get on.
As part of our January meeting we were going to set goals. That meeting never happened, but there were some goals set. The emphasis is on membership retention and new member enrollments. The Division goal was an increase of 5%. Bev will talk a little more about the recent changes that have happened in HR to make things a little easier and less time consuming. I am pleased to report that our Division membership is now at 82 members and I have been told there are some applications in the works or soon to follow. This is great news.
Our challenge, the FC’s challenge and each member’s duties…..mentor them, get them involved…don’t wait for anything and help them keep their interest and drive up and moving forward. There are so many opportunities, we need to show them, point them in the right direction and then mentor their progression. This way we will become stronger and more resilient.
Every organization has faults, issues and struggles. We need to be especially positive and excited about this work we do and our mission….always ready. Be excited and that excitement will be captured by others. Do you believe in magic? I do.
Think for a moment of the movie Santa Clause 2. Remember young Charlie----spray paint--- and principal Newman----the end of the show she is having issues believing that his dad is really Santa Clause---makes this important quote----Seeing is not believing…..believing is seeing.
Do you believe in your goals? Do you believe in why were are here and what we do…..If you believe something can be done, work hard to make it happen….it will.
Best wishes to all, please let me know if I can help in any way, share your successes and your trials….As we grow together, we become stronger. Let me help you achieve your successes…..Thank you again for all you do. Semper Paratus.
