April Gold Beach Boating Safety Class

Gold Beach: Boating Safety Class: Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9:00am - 5:00pm
Students who successfully complete the one day course will receive a certificate of completion. The certificate is valid for students to apply for a Boater Safety card from the Oregon State Marine Board.
The one day course, taught by certified Coast Guard Auxiliarists, will be held at the Gold Beach Public Library, 94341 Third St, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
The course fee is $40 and includes the book Boat Oregon. Lunch will be provided.
All boaters who operate a motorboat over 10 horsepower (hp) and youths 12-15 years old operating a motorboat of any size are required to take an approved boating safety course and apply/carry a boater education card.

May Brookings GPS for Mariners Class

Brookings: GPS For Mariners: May 18 & 19, 2024 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm
This class is two five hour sessions held on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 & 19, 2024 from 12:00pm to 5pm.
The class will be held at the Coast Guard Station Chetco River, 16133 Boat Basin Road, Brookings, Oregon. Course cost is $55.
Day one is reading and using navigation charts. Day two is GPS orientations and field exercises.
The class uses Garmin handheld 78sc GPS units but the student can bring their own if they have marine maps installed. GPS units will be reserved upon registration. Student books will be provided.

June Brookings Paddler's Guide to Safety Class

Brookings: Paddler's Guide to Safety: June 1, 2024 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm
The class will be held at the Coast Guard Station Chetco River, 16133 Boat Basin Road, Brookings, Oregon. Course cost is $20.
Objective for this course is for novice paddlers to be aware of basic issues and needs for paddling safety along with proper safety equipment. Situational awareness and the need to practice skills will also be addressed.
