Don Dale Memoriam


Donald (Don) Dale, 86 of Florence, Oregon “Crossed the Bar” June 9, 2015 with his loved ones by his side. He married his sweetheart, Mary in 1951. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They moved to Florence, Oregon 20 years ago to finish out their retirement years. He joined the U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 5-7 August 05, 1996, to further his interest in boating. Don was an accomplished mariner and served as a Qualified Examiner for both Auxiliary and Active Duty Boat Crews. Don used his boat for Auxiliary Operation Patrols on the Siuslaw River as an Auxiliary Facility. He worked his way through Staff Offices and was elected Flotilla Commander for the 2001-2002 term. Don was re-elected Flotilla Commander a second term in 2002-2003.The New Flotilla Commander in 2004 asked Don to stay on as Vice Flotilla Commander were he served until the Flotilla disbanded. Don remained an active Auxiliary member until early 2015. Don is remembered as a quiet force within the Auxiliary and he will be missed by all that knew him. A Celebration of Life was held June 13,2015 at the Elks Lodge of Florence. Don was an active member of the Elks and other civic groups in both Oregon and California.
