Congratulations on your  desire to take the next steps to joining the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Here are the steps to joining the US Coast Guard Auxiliary

1. Visit us.. Flotilla Meetings are at 1800 hrs ,  last Wednesday of the month  at the Bass Bro Shops 2nd Floor

 REQUIRED 

2.  Take the free  online safe boating course. Click here for the course: boatus.org

3. On successful completion of the course fill out the application, fill out online.

Save your electronic application.

 4. Email the completed PDF and a scan of the Boating Safety Course Completion certificate to:

Keith is the HR screener, and will go over the application with you. 

Pre-Submitting an electronic application will make the process easier.

If we have enough applicants at one time, we will set up a day to process everyone  together, and will include the two  required FEMA courses.

 

Your screening process will include a photograph of you taken by the screener. No ear rings please. 

If you have a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary that has  introduced you to the Flotilla and has brought you to a Flotilla Meeting, they will be your mentor in your induction process.

Be sure to inform them of  your progress in this process.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR APPLICATION

1. You will receive your member number giving you access to Auxiliary website training 

2. You will be in a 90 day probationary  period. This may start with your first meeting attendance. During this period, you are expected to complete the US Coast Guard Auxiliary mandatory training, and the Basic Qualification Courses.  ( BQC) This is all online, and consists of two FEMA certifications,  HR related courses,  and 7 BQ Modules

3. Once you have completed the mandated training ,  and your 90 day probation, you will be authorized to wear the uniform.

 

You may then focus on what trainings you would like to pursue ( Crew, Navigation, etc ) We recommend that ALL new members first  receive their Vessel Examiner certification. This is an online course and field training. Vessel Exams are a major part of our mission in Nevada.
