Flotilla Focus and Public Service

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and its members are the face of the Coast Guard to the boating public. By regularly visiting our marine dealers and updating them with current information on boating safety and issues in and around our waterways, we reach thousands of fishermen, family boaters, sailors, kayakers and personal water-craft operators. We do this on the ocean, in our lakes and bays and on the Colorado River. We know that our actions save lives daily! While we may not always be picking people out of the water, pulling boats off the rocks, guiding them to safe ports, our Safe Boating and Seamanship education classes (which are FREE of charge) are teaching boaters to expect the unexpected, keep proper equipment aboard at all times and know how to use it. Most importantly WEAR YOUR LIFE VEST since this saves lives more than anything else.

Our members donate thousands of hours doing Vessel Safety Checks, Public Education classes, Search and Rescue, Aids to Navigation Services, Marine Safety, Radio Communications and Environmental Protection and Marine Domain Awareness operations. If you enjoy boating, or just enjoy being on and around the water we invite you to surf through our website and the many programs that the USCG Auxiliary has to offer.

There's more to being an Auxiliary member too. We are the eyes and the ears of the Coast Guard on the water and along the coast. We train with them, we work with them, we support them and by keeping watch on our waterways with them we are helping to keep our country safe. If you want to serve your country in a very special way, this is a wonderful program to become a part of.
