Flotilla 18 Vessel Safety Checks
Laurel Street Station
We can check your boat at the Coast Guard Auxiliary VSC Station,
located on Laurel Street just east of the Sector San Diego USCG Air Station.
AUX-Seal-2in
2nd SATURDAY of each month
and the 5th Saturday
when it occurs.
8:30am – 2pm

[Additional locations and times will be listed below]
The Vessel Safety Check is a complimentary check of your boat conducted by members of the Auxiliary, confirming that it meets both federal and state requirements for safety.
No citations are issued and the results of the safety check are not reported to any enforcement agency. A decal (right) is awarded if the vessel has passed the examination and display of this decal is usually enough to prevent another inspection by law enforcement (unless you are doing something unsafe) or if you are stopped and inspected, the inspection goes much quicker since you already have met the requirements.
(However, the decal is NOT a guarantee you will not be stopped or boarded. It is only certification that you met the requirements at the time of the inspection, which could have changed.)
