Vessel Safety Checks are performed on boats to ensure that they are in full compliance of state and federal boating regulations. They usually take thirty minutes and can be done on land or water. Boats that meet regulations are awarded decals that are recognized by the Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, Sheriff and Police. If your boat does not initially pass, the examiner will provide you with a list of actions you can take to meet regulations. Decals expire on December 31 of the year issued.
