BOATING COURSES

This section contains information on several different courses that are offered by the Coast Guard Auxiliary, US Power Squadron and other service providers.

VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS

Do you know if you have all the equipment you need? Is your equipment working properly?  If you answered no to either one of these questions, then you might want to have a vessel safety check done.  A vessel safety check is a free, no penalty for discrepancies consultation to make sure you and your fellow boaters have the safest possible trip.

BROCHURE DISPLAY

Various businesses and organizations team with the Auxiliary to promote boating safety and environmental awareness.  One of the programs offered is hosting a brochure display.  The Auxiliary provides brochures for the business or organization to give away.  These businesses and organizations are known as "Program Partners."

OPERATOR OF UNINSPECTED PASSENGER VESSEL INSPECTION

The Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary offer a free, voluntary inspection for charter captains of their vessel(s). Vessels meeting the OUPV guidelines are not mandated to have a yearly inspection.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

The Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary provide emergency response personnel when available.  Sector Upper Mississippi is the sole dispatching authority.  Sector Upper Mississippi can be reached on Channel 16.  Dial 911 for any life-threatening conditions.
