Boating Laws and Safety Resources

Water sports in our area can be a lot of fun. While Summer time is peak season for boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming, with our generally mild weather for many it is a year-round pastime.  Both on the Tennessee River and the many other area lakes, these opportunities abound.  While the vast majority of trips to the river or lakes come off without a hitch, unfortunately, every year there are serious injuries and fatalities in our area.

Please browse these pages to become familiar with Coast Guard Auxiliary resources to help make your time on the water safer.  These include Boater Safety Education Classes, voluntary Vessel Courtesy Exams, and our partnership with the Coast Guard and local agencies to ensure that hazards are identified and corrected, etc.
