Complete a Float Plan and leave it with a reliable person who can be depended upon to notify the Coast Guard or other rescue agency, should you not return as planned. If you change your plans or will be delayed, notify the person holding your Float Plan. When you return, close your float plan by notifying the holder that you have arrived home safely. If the holder has reported you as being overdue, notify all applicable rescue authorities of your safe return.”
