Applicaton Process

1. Download and print:

New Member Reference Guide
New Member Exam
New Member Study Guide
AuxA-10 form, Coast Guard Auxiliary Association Consent to Membership form

2. Complete the New Member Exam. This is an untimed, open-book test. You must score 80% or better on the exam. Note that our flotilla number is 081-04-04.

3. Sign and date the AuxA-10 form

4. Complete ANSC-7001, the Auxiliary Application. Complete the form on-line. Do not print it and fill it in by hand. You will need the Adobe Acobat Reader program (which is a free download) to complete the form.

ANSC-7001 Enrollment Application

1. Complete all sections of the electronic application on-line. Do not fill it in by hand.
2. Full name including maiden and/or middle name (“NMN” if no middle name)
3. Our flotilla number is 081-04-04
4. Occupational Codes must be included
5. All Zip Codes must include “+4”
6. When completed, print the application. Make a copy for your records!
7. Sign in the appropriate locations.
8. Obtain the required signatures and documents:

  1. If you checked “YES” in Section VII lines 3,4 or 5 you must attach a signed statement and the appropriate Court documents
  2. Section VII must be signed in the presence of either the Flotilla Commander, Vice Flotilla Commander or the flotilla Human Resources Officer.
  3. Section IX, in the block titled “Auxiliary FT/CV Name,” either a Law Enforcement officer or the flotilla Human Resources Officer must sign the block after verifying your citizenship document.

9. Attach the following documents:

  1. Copy of the citizenship document which was verified in Section IX
  2. Copy of DD-214 showing Re-enlistment code, if applicable.  If on first enlistment add a statement to that effect – no 214
  3. Signed Coast Guard Auxiliary Association, Inc. consent to membership form, (AuxA-10 Form) 
  4. Completed New Member Exam. The FSO-HR will grade and note your score on the application
  5. If a Boating Safety course has been completed, include a copy of the certificate and check the box in Section IV.
  6. A check for Auxiliary dues made out to "USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 44." Dues for new members are prorated depending on when your application is submiited:

10. Once all the items above have been completed, contact the FSO-HR to set up a meeting and deliver your Application package and associated documents for review and acceptance.

Then…

Once your application is complete and accepted:

  1. It will be forwarded to the Flotilla Commander for his or her review and signature.
  2. It will then be sent to the District Staff Officer for Human Resources (DSO-HR) for his or her approval.
  3. The DSO-HR will forward your application package to the Director of Auxiliary, the Coast Guard Office/Officer in charge of the Auxiliary.
  4. You will be assigned a Member Number and be placed in Application Pending status. This ID# will enable new members to take courses and exams and order uniforms.
  5. Your Basic Qualification course and mandated training can then be taken on-line.  
  6. You will take the Oath of Membership and be sworn in at a flotilla meeting.  
  7. The Coast Guard will conduct a PSI (personal security investigation).
  8. We will discuss your Auxiliary career goals if we have not done so already.
