Admiral Thomas' visit

In February I had the pleasure of meeting Admiral Thomas, the 8th District Commander. The Admiral came to the Coast Guard Station, Panama City, Florida, to visit with all the troops and have an all hands meeting to discuss the base accomplishments, plans for the future and to field questions from station personnel. He later came by the Marine Safety Detachment Unit “MSD” and talked with the team, giving a Challenge Coin to MST1 Hendrix for his successful jog in leading the MSD Team.

During the meeting, the Admiral singled out the Coast Guard Auxiliary for its missions during the Hurricane Season, and its overall mission to support the Coast Guard. It was most gratifying to have the Admiral thank me personally, as well as recognizing the CG Auxiliary personnel from Flotilla 1-9 for the tremendous support being given to Station Panama City, Aids to Navigation Department (ANT Team) and MSD.

It was a FUN day and only wish the word could have reached our leadership so we could have had a better Auxiliary showing.
