PANAMA CITY, FL The United States Coast Guard and The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary has awarded the TRIDENT certificate and medal to Donald Kittsmiller, of Panama City, FL, and a member of the Panama City USCG flotilla. The Trident is one of the most prestigious awards given to a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. It represents both an advanced knowledge of Marine Safety as well a dedication to supporting the Coast Guard in its efforts to maintain and improve safety in our marine environment and our waterways.
To be awarded the TRIDENT, the recipient must have passed a host of courses in marine safety, achieved USCG qualification in 4 marine safety mission areas, and complete a minimum of 96 hours of voluntary service per year in those areas for 5 years. Mr. Kittsmiller is one of only 6 members of the USCG 8th Coastal Region and 28 in the nation to have received the Trident. USCG Lt. Steve Browning presented the award to Mr. Kittsmiller at USCG Station Panama City on November 30, 2020.
