Operations Boat Crew Training

Welcome to the Operations Department training page.

The Operations department of Flotilla 1308 is the second most active in District 7.  The range of missions that we perform includes everything that the U. S. Coast does EXCEPT law enforcement.

Our coxswain and crew get underway EVERY week.  Here is a list of some of the missions that we conduct:

  • Two-Boat Training with Station Islamorada
  • Air Training missions with Air Station Miami.
  • Area Familiarization missions for new coasties at Station Islamorada and Sector Key West.
  • Sanctuary Preservation Area Safety Patrols
  • Special Event Patrols - Alligator Light Swim,Paddle Florida, and Homestead ARB training.
  • SAR Cases
Involvement in our Operations department as a crewmember represents a committment of both time and money.  You will be purchasing a uniform that costs approximately $200 for the complete outfit.  Your time committment will involve once a week training for about 8 weeks to achieve your first certification-boat crewmember.

Our "Getting Started" procedure will help you take the first steps towards getting underway with us.

You need to print this out and place it in a three ring binder prior to meeting with your training officer/Mentor for the first time.  An easy way to print it is to save and take to Office depot on a thumb drive.
