G.5 USCGAux - FEMA - Incident Management

Federal Emergency Management & Disaster Response Training (FEMA)

FEMA ICS courses are NOT part of the mandatory or Core requirements.HOWEVER– ICS coursesThe Coast Guard maintains a close relationship with FEMA and takes the same training are required to achieve competency in most Auxiliary certifications. To support the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s goals by improving the competencies of the U.S. officials in Emergency Management at all levels of government to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the potential effects of all types of disasters and emergencies on the American people.

ISC Requirements for Response Department Programs ICS 100, 700: Members seeking to be qualified in an Auxiliary Operational Program, including Surface Operations, Air Operations, Fixed / Mobile Radio Facility Operators, must complete this coursework prior to certification by the DIRAUX. Without this certification, members are not allowed to participate in any Coast Guard exercise, drill or response event.

ICS 200, 210, 800 Members designated as Single Unit Resource Leaders (“SURLs”):To become Auxiliary Coxswains, Pilots, PWC operators) must complete these ICS course works prior to certification by the DIRAUX. Without this certification, members already qualified will be considered REYR and will not be issued Auxiliary patrol orders. (NOTE: Coast Guard ICS 300 is an acceptable substitute for ICS 210.)
