Flotilla 3-10 What's New!

Members of USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 3-10 of Callao, VA visited The Slips in  Kinsale, VA, a marina under new ownership to conduct vessel safety checks on their fleet of brand new kayaks.  They also distributed 14 of the orange stickers to be used for kayak identification in the event of loss or an accident.  Their fleet includes 8 singles, 4 tandems and 2 kid size kayaks.  The Slips is located at 385 Kinsale Rd, Kinsale, VA  22488.

3-10 Flotilla Bridge for 2020 and 2021 

Vietnam Veterans Honored

In late 2018 the USCG Auxiliary authorized the recognition of ‘feet on the ground’ Vietnam vets and it has taken longer than anticipated to receive all the pins. The pins were presented at the flotilla annual picnic.

 FLOTILLA 3-10 INSTALLS NEW OFFICERS

 On December 10 Flotilla 3-10 of Callao, Va. held its Change of Watch meeting at the Inn in Montross where G. Edward Gray Jr. was installed as Flotilla Commander and Andris Baltins was installed as Vice Flotilla Commander for the coming year.  New Flotilla Staff Officers were installed as well.  The Change of Watch is a time honored opportunity for members, past and present, to join together during the holiday season to participate in the tradition of transferring authority and responsibility of elected and appointed officers and to celebrate the holiday season with fellow shipmates.

In 2016 the Flotilla reached some significant milestones.  They conducted 446 Vessel Safety Checks, an increase of 40% over 2015.  They conducted 6 public and 5 private boating safety education classes for 856 students in 5 counties of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.  The Kids ‘n Water class was taught  to 560 kindergarten and first grade students in Essex, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland County schools and will be expanded in 2017 to other area schools.  76 patrol missions involving more than 425 underway hours were conducted.  This included the verification of 77 Federal and Private Aids to navigation throughout their area of responsibility.  Finally, 12 “Award Winning” newsletters, “The Advocate” were published and distributed to members throughout the District showcasing the breadth and depth of member commitment to the Four Cornerstones of the Auxiliary.
