NOAA provides weekly updates to the RNCs, which are available for free on this site in the BSB format. NOAA ENCs and updates are available for free download. NOAA ENC data may be used to fuel Electronic Chart and Display Information Systems (ECDIS).

Free Nautical Book Charts for Boaters - One of NOAA's handiest navigation products, especially for recreational boaters, has been Coast Survey's experimental BookletCharts -- nautical charts that are easy to download and print from home computers. Coast Survey has now moved the BookletCharts from experimental stage into official production. Nearly a thousand newly updated BookletCharts are available free on the Web. NOAA's new official BookletCharts cover the 95,000 miles of U.S. coastline and the Great Lakes. The BookletCharts contain most of the information found on NOAA's full-scale nautical charts, but it is presented as reduced-scale.

Animated Knots by Grog - These animated knots are primarily for boaters, but many are useful for anyone who uses rope and values safety. The knots can be selected from the index, by their pictures, or from a page which describes their various uses. Each knot automatically "ties itself" when the page opens. Fast and Slow buttons allow each animation to be replayed. Many of the animations can also be reflected left for right or inverted with the Normal, Mirror, Inverted, Rotated buttons under the title. To study each stage, the animation can also be played step by step: just move the mouse over the row of numbered buttons under the knot. For many knots an extra button, Structure, shows a picture which helps understand the way the knot "fits together".
