Boating Courses

Brianna's Law

Legislation passed in 2019 called Brianna’s Law, requires all operators of motorized watercraft – regardless of age - to complete an approved boating safety class by 2025 (Not required for those who are renting boats). If you were born after January 1, 1993, you must take a Boating Safety class before operating a power boat this year 

The requirements to complete a class are based on age and will be phased in over a five year period beginning on January 1, 2020.

Those born on or after:    must complete a course by:
January 1, 1993                             2020
January 1, 1988                             2022
January 1, 1983                             2023
January 1, 1978                             2024
All motor boat operators regardless of age                     2025
