Automated Radio Checks

    Automated radio checks are available from SEATOW ®. This is a free, courtesy service available to all boaters.  Boaters are highly encouraged to use this system to periodically check their radio.  Different channels are used in different areas. Please do NOT use Channel 16 for radio checks!  The appropriate VHF channels for a "Radio Check" in the New England area are:

          -- For the Rhode Island are -- use Channel 24

          -- For the Central Connecticut area -- use Channel 24

          -- For the Eastern Connecticut area -- use Channel 27

          -- For the Southern Connecticut area -- use Channel 24

          -- For the South Shore Massachusetts area -- use Channel 26

          -- For the Boston area -- use Channel 27

          -- For the Cape and Islands area -- use Channel 28

          -- For the Portland to Midcoast Maine area -- use Channel 27
