Welcome to the Flotilla 1-5, District 1NR Web Site

Serving the Penobscot Bay Area

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in 1939 as the uniformed, volunteer, civilian component of the Coast Guard. We assist the Coast Guard in all of its varied missions on the water and in the air, with the exceptions of direct military and law enforcement activities. We are Semper Paratus, meaning "Always Ready."
Flotilla 1-5, the Penobscot Bay Flotilla, is based in Rockland, Maine at Coast Guard Station Rockland. Our missions are to promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety in our region, and to augment the Coast Guard's administrative, safety, and security operations. To fulfill those missions, we provide communications watchstanders to staff the Station's Rescue 21 system, conduct training and safety patrols in Penobscot Bay, support the region's Aids to Navigation (ATONs), teach boating safety classes, and provide safety literature to local boat dealers and marinas.
