The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary was established by Congress in 1939 to assist the Coast Guard in promoting boating safety. It boasts nearly 33,000 members from all walks of life who receive special training so that they may be a functional part of Team Coast Guard. Auxiliarists assist the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, marine environmental protection and Coast Guard Academy introduction programs offering an opportunity for high caliber, college bound high school students considering a career as a USCG Officer to learn about the USCG Academy. Auxiliarists volunteer more than 2 million hours annually to benefit other boaters and their families.
The Bangor Maine Flotilla 013-01-02 is made up of energetic volunteers who care about promoting boating safety and fun. For more information about the Bangor Flotilla, contact us.
