OUR MISSION
A United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla dedicated to
Safe Boating, Education, Operations & Fellowship
11 October 1970 saw the formation of Flotilla 10-6 Wilmington from the original 10-3 with the charter dated 09 November 1970.
Two sister flotillas were derived from 10-06; on 31 December 1984 10-01 was formed in Wrightsville Beach Currently there are three flotillas that make up Division10- 5SR. 10-05 is South Port/Oak Island area.
The flotilla has been recognized for its very active support of the U.S. Coast Guard and the boating public for the past four decades. This outstanding team effort has included Public Education, Vessel Safety Exams, Surface and Air Operations, support of Coast Guard Units Coast Guard Cutter “Diligence”, Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Wilmington, Marine Safety Office (MSO) Wilmington, Group Ft. Macon, Sector North Carolina HQ, Station Wrightsville Beach, and Joint D.O.D. Force exercises at Camp Lejeune and Onslow Bay and Special Operations Forces at Fort Bragg at White Lake.
Recent activities include offshore security patrols for an aircraft recovery operation off Wrightsville Beach, Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach fireworks displays and numerous other local on-water events. The flotilla continues to support the Coast Guard HF Communications Network through the Auxiliary Monitoring Program (AUXMON). A flotilla member development an innovative program to improve Coast Guard Search and Rescue pattern execution through AUXSAR. The Flotilla’s leadership role in AUXAIR has been demonstrated by the high level of participation in this program by our pilots and crew members.
