Welcome to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's Flotilla 24-04, located in Guilford CT. We are the civilian uniformed volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard. The over-arching mission of the Auxiliary is to augment the Recreational Boating Safety Mission of the U.S. Coast Guard as well as assisting with the security of our citizens, ports, waterways, and coastal regions. While we are not directly involved in military activities or law enforcement, members do participate in thousands of hours of support that directly supplements the Coast Guard’s Maritime Domain Awareness missions which include Harbor Patrols on the sea and in the air, Vessel Safety Examinations, Public Education on Boating Safety, Radio Communications, Search & Rescue and Marine Environmental Protection.
Our goal is to help make all on-the-water experiences safer for those who use America's waterways. In Connecticut, you may see the Auxiliary on patrol on the Connecticut River, Long Island Sound, CT coastal waterways, at public events, boat shows and in schools or even in the air. We welcome new Members and encourage your participation.
Membership in the Flotilla is open to men and women, 17 years or older, who are citizens of the United States. Facility (radio station, boat, or aircraft) ownership is desirable but not mandatory. In addition to the official duties of the Auxiliary, Guilford Flotilla members also dispense educational materials at various state boat launches and marinas. We guest lecture, teach children about the sea and environmental conservation, and enjoy fellowship with each other. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at the Guilford Community Center, 32 Church Street, Guilford CT 06437.
