Auxiliary Paddlecraft (AUXPAD) Training

D070 AUXPAD Academies Zoom discussion. February 19
AUXPAD/ ACA L2 Coastal Kayaking Class March 8-9 on Lake Miona in The Villages, FL.
The class which is normally a $400 + value is absolutely free. Only cost to you is travel time, food, water and lodging if needed. You must have your own boat or have a loaner/rental. This class is open to all so if you have family or if the Active duty wants to participate then all are welcome.

Avoiding AUXPAD Operator REYR – March 9
AUXPAD Coordinators can use a report generated by Joey Taguding, showing what each AO needs to do to stay out of REYR. We will devote a half hour to this at our next Coordinator meeting on March 9.
AUXPAD Ashore: Talking with Paddlers—March 26
Learn the key topics and communication strategies that you can use in talking with paddlers, and identify resources you may want to explore.
Risk Management/TCT annual update April 2 and 16
Robin Pope will be teaching a 4-hour session with 2 hours each on April 2 and 16. Register from link on the calendar. He can also teach the Surface Operations seminar if members need it.

Kayaking 101 classes. May 17, 2025
This partnership with the American Canoe Association involves teaching basic kayaking skills to novice paddlers. In 2024 this partnership involved ACA instructor volunteers and representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in 7 states, offering 43 simultaneous “Kayaking 101” classes. Auxiliarists may enroll or volunteer.

Yorktown Training Center, Yorktown, VA.
This AUXPAD Academy offers an opportunity to be assessed for L2 ACA Coastal Kayaking skills, and satisfy many of the requirements to become an AUXPAD Operator. Participants must be assessed for L2 skills prior to the class.
